The International Coaching Federation (ICF) defines coaching as “partnering with clients in a thought-provoking and creative process that inspires them to maximize their personal and professional potential.” Psychotherapy, on the other hand, is legally defined as “the professional treatment, assessment, or counseling of a mental or emotional illness, symptom, or condition.” Coaching does not focus on treating a medical condition, but it can provide increased insight into your emotions and behaviors and provides support shifting patterns of behavior to improve your wellbeing and maximize your fullest potential. Although coaching may potentially provide symptom relief, there is not a focus on treatment of those symptoms and there is no guarantee of symptom relief.
When providing coaching, I will not be providing mental health assessment or treatment. Coaching is not a substitute or alternative for mental health counseling, psychotherapy or examination, or other mental health services. Do not delay diagnosis or treatment. Do not postpone appointments, go without or adjust medications, or otherwise rely on coaching as a substitute or alternative for mental health care.

A clarity call is a brief conversation (usually about 15 minutes) between you and me that helps us determine whether we will be a good fit. During this call, I will ask more questions about your specific needs and will discuss how or whether I can meet those needs. A clarity call can be via phone or Zoom, depending on your preference.

Each session is 60 minutes (1 hour).

This is different for each person, depending on your particular needs. We will explore this together during your clarity call and during your first session. However, for most folx, it will take a few sessions to fully get to know one another and better understand what you need. Especially when starting out, I recommend at least 3 sessions so that you get a full sense of what you will be provided with. You can end sessions at any time.

After your clarity call and once we've determined this partnership is a good fit, you will be provided instructions on scheduling. You can schedule your clarity call on the Services page.
